Apple Century Bike Ride – Route Update #2: IMPORTANT
Due to an unfortunate oversight by the county and highway crews, the road resurfacing project on the Chumstick Highway between Leavenworth and Plain will be active during our ride from 8am to 11am . This presents a hazard that is not worth the risk of sending our riders beyond the pit stop at Cascade High School in Leavenworth. The route will be shortened to the 50 mile and 25 mile routes only. A 100 mile route can only… be supported by completing the 50 mile route twice (I know, not all that appealing).
Our ride committee members have worked tirelessly to ensure that all permitting and planning are in order to avoid issues such as these, but matters are now beyond our control and concern for the overall safety of the event takes precedence.
We plan, as always, to host one of the Northwest’s best bike rides. We appreciate the support that our cause is given each year and hope that this vexatious situation doesn’t detour your continued support.
