There’s a great menu of sports activities coming up in the Wenatchee Valley in September, including some fun opportunities for participants. Upriver on September 6th, the Lake Chelan Shore to Shore Marathon (also half-marathon & 10K) is a real test of endurance, while also drawing its share of observers. If you’re looking for a fun golf experience, the Wenatchee Valley College Golf Tournament, an important fundraiser for the athletic department, is September 12th at the Highlander. The following weekend, the River Run, with your choice of a half-marathon, 10k or 5k challenge, is a part of downtown Wenatchee’s Taste of the Harvest Celebration September 20th. It starts at Pybus Public Market and ends at Stanley Civic Center, with a lot of views alongside the Columbia River in between. Walkers are heavily encouraged to participate, adding to this unique Wenatchee Valley experience. And don’t forget that school is in, signaling the start of a full fall sports season, offering all kinds of opportunities for the spectator in you. October is shaping up to be an incredible month, particularly on the sports tourism scene. Leading the way will be The US Figure Skating Northwest Pacific Regionals, and the Apple Cup, one of the largest youth soccer tournaments in the northwest. We’ll take a look at those and other October events next month.
