DESCRIPTION:These half-marathon and 5-mile runs take place on well-maintained trails at the stunning Horse Lake Reserve\,   which is owned and managed by the Chelan-Douglas Land Trust. The 1\,700-acre reserve is located just a few miles northwest of the city of Wenatchee in the foothills of the Cascade Mountains. The event is put on by RunWenatchee as a fundraiser for the Land Trust. \nUPDATED INFO: Packet pickup and late registration will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. this Friday at Pybus Public \nMarket\, and from 8 to 8:45 a.m. Saturday at Horse Lake. \nOn race day\, the Mission Ridge Ski Team and Mission Ridge Ski & Board Resort will shuttle \nrunners from the Wal-Mart parking lot to Horse Lake Reserve and back\, beginning at 7:15 a.m. \nThere is no cost for the shuttle. People also can drive to Horse Lake on their own\, but parking is \nlimited — only about 70 parking spaces in all. \nMore information

DESCRIPTION:Release provided by Adventure Wenatchee\nRide of Silence to be held May 20 in Wenatchee \nWENATCHEE — The annual Ride of Silence will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday\, May 20\, beginning at Pybus Public Market and continuing in a slow procession through the city. The free ride asks participants to move no faster than 10 mph and to remain silent during the procession — all as a way to honor those who have been killed or injured while cycling on public roadways\, and to raise awareness that cyclists have a legal right to public roadways. Many motorists are not aware that bicyclists are legally required to ride in the streets and roads\, and not on sidewalks. Wenatchee Valley Velo Club is again the local organizer of this event\, now in its 13th year. Similar rides are taking place at the same time in locations throughout the world. In the United States\, the ride is held during National Bike Safety Month and Week. \nThis year’s Wenatchee Ride of Silence is expected to attract more than 100 cyclists\, who will follow a ride leader on a route through the community and then back to Pybus\, returning at approximately 8 p.m. Cyclists of all skill levels are encouraged to participate. Apple Blossom Festival royalty will be among the riders. There also will be a Wenatchee Police escort. Wenatchee Valley Velo Club president Fred Munson said the group organizes the local Ride of Silence in part because it fits one of the club’s core missions — making bicycling in the community safer. “Our club members learn the rules of the road and bicycle laws\,” Munson said. “And it goes both ways. We want our riders to be courteous to motorists while using public roads.” \nThe May 20 event will begin with a 6:30 p.m. ceremony at the south end of Pybus that will remember family and friends who have been lost or injured while riding their bicycles. The ceremony will be led by Wenatchee’s Dr. Ed Farrar\, who was paralyzed while cycling several years ago. \nHere is the route for the local 3-mile procession: \n— Left out of Pybus onto Worthen Street \n— Right onto Thurston Street

The 25K  is very challenging with about 3\,000 feet of elevation gain.  More information\nTIME CHANGE****RunWenatchee announced today (Wednesday May 27) it will move up the start time of its Red Devil Challenge 25K Trail Run this Sunday one hour to 8 a.m. due to unseasonably warm temperatures forecast for the region. The event’s 10K will still start at 9 a.m. Both races start and finish at the Sandcreek Trailhead\, located 10 miles south of Cashmere in the Wenatchee National Forest. \n

DESCRIPTION:One of the largest bike rides in eastern Washington\, sponsored by Wenatchee Sunrise Rotary.\n Details \n\nApple Century Bike Ride – Route Update #2: IMPORTANT \nDue to an unfortunate oversight by the county and highway crews\, the road resurfacing project on the Chumstick Highway between Leavenworth and Plain will be active during our ride from 8am to 11am . This presents a hazard that is not worth the risk of sending our riders beyond the pit stop at Cascade High School in Leavenworth. The route will be shortened to the 50 mile and 25 mile routes only. A 100 mile route can only… be supported by completing the 50 mile route twice (I know\, not all that appealing). \n\nOur ride committee members have worked tirelessly to ensure that all permitting and planning are in order to avoid issues such as these\, but matters are now beyond our control and concern for the overall safety of the event takes precedence. \nWe plan\, as always\, to host one of the Northwest’s best bike rides.
