DESCRIPTION:‍March 7\, 2026 \nCentennial Park will transform into a winter playground for all ages. From 12 p.m. to 3 p.m.\, enjoy Family Snow Play Experiences in Centennial Park! Mission Ridge Ski + Board Resort enhances the fun by dumping fresh snow in the park\, where their ski school offers a chance to test out skis and snowboards. The Wenatchee River Institute also provides snowshoes for visitors to try\, adding to the winter adventure. Attendees 21+ are welcome to explore various beer gardens with craft brews from Pinnacle Beerworks\, Blewett Brewing\, Wenatchee Valley Brewing\, and Hellbent Brewing. \nThe highlight of the day is the epic rail jam competition – the largest annual rail jam competition in the U.S. – taking over Orondo Ave. in downtown Wenatchee. The night continues in Centennial Park with the awards presentation at 8 p.m. \nThis year’s zero-waste initiative is in partnership with Sustainable NCW and Wenatchee Valley Rotary. Waste stations staffed by volunteers will help attendees sort compost\, recycling\, and trash into special trashcans provided by Wenatchee Valley Rotary\, which will be sorted into food waste dumpsters from Winton MFG Compost Works\, ensuring that materials are properly processed. Food vendors and breweries will exclusively use CMA – certified compostable supplies. This initiative reinforces Wenatchee’s commitment to sustainability and the mission of Visit Wenatchee’s Show Love For This Place campaign.

SUMMARY:2026 Wenatchee Marathon
DESCRIPTION:Race Overview\nA fast course with something for everyone. Gorgeous course\, largely on traffic free paved trails along the Columbia River. Cascade Mountain views abound. Full Marathon\, Half\, 10k and 5k categories. Walkers welcome in all categories. \nAbout TedDriven: Your participation enables us to invest in Cancer Research and Survivor Support\nThe Leavenworth and Wenatchee Marathons are operated by TedDriven\, LLC a social benefit organization that supports cancer research and local not for profits. Cancer research is a special interest of the directors. We all are connected to someone affected by cancer. Your race directors\, Lynda\, Colin\, Wendy & Ian have all been directly impacted and are committed to doing their part to fight the disease. TedDriven invests proceeds from the Wenatchee Marathon and the Leavenworth Marathon to the Herbert Irving Comprehensive Cancer Center at Columbia University. \nAbout Wenatchee\nAs described by the Wenatchee Valley Chamber – “We are at a confluence of two rivers\, the rushing Wenatchee and the mighty Columbia in a land enveloped by the foothills and towering peaks of the Cascades. We are a place where the earth’s geology is ever present. We have harnessed the power of our waters to power the west and cultivated our valley to give the world fruits from our orchards and wine from our vineyards. \nThe spirit of our people is the result of a place that knows how to produce. We put faith in the land to make the harvest each year and have innovated ways to share our bounty across this nation and world. Our innovation does not stop with the land; we invest in our children and believe that education is the key to our future success. \nWe live a life of abundant choices. Underneath sunny skies we take to the slopes\, the rivers\, the trails\, and the loop to ski\, kayak\, hike\, and bike. Our streets and trails are filled with sculpture bringing art to our people. We are a small town to some and big city to others. But to all\, whether visitor or local\, we provide a way to escape from everyday routines. \nWe are a place where a choice made history on the first transpacific flight. We are a place where a community chose to rally behind a vision to build a dam that would free the west. We have made a choice to embrace the future through our past in a building twice scrapped that will emerge as a market that will bring us together.; The choices here are as plentiful as the orchards are fruitful.”

SUMMARY:WVC Athletics presents The Mayne Event with Kenny Mayne
DESCRIPTION:WVC Athletics presents The Mayne Event with Kenny Mayne on May 9\n_______________________________________________________________________ \n  \nWenatchee Valley College Knights Athletics will host a spring fundraiser with former ESPN anchor Kenny Mayne on Saturday\, May 9. The Mayne Event will feature a stand-up comedy set by WVC alum Mayne\, his “Wiffle Ball” documentary\, a silent auction\, and live music performances by the Whisky Trail Band and the Confluence Jazz Trio with Angela Waggoner. \n  \nThe fundraiser takes place on Saturday\, May 9 at 5:30 p.m. in the Student Recreation Center on WVC’s Wenatchee campus. Tables are currently available\, and individual tickets will go on sale in early April. Tickets for the Mayne Event can be purchased at www.wvcfoundation.schoolauction.net/wvcmayneevent. \n  \nKenny Mayne graduated from Wenatchee Valley College in 1978. A former Knight\, Mayne was the quarterback for WVC’s football team from 1977-1978 and earned All-American honors from the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA). He went on to attend the University of Nevada Las Vegas\, where he was a backup quarterback and graduated with a degree in broadcasting in 1982. \n  \nMayne started his career as a reporter in Las Vegas and then as a weekend sports anchor in Seattle before joining ESPN in 1994 as a sports anchor. He was host of “Kenny Mayne’s Wider World of Sports” on ESPN.com and a weekly contributor to the Sunday NFL Countdown with a “Mayne Event” segment. \n  \nHe also published a book in 2008\, “An Incomplete and Inaccurate History of Sport\,” a collection of humorous takes on sports and pop culture. \n  \nMayne’s comedy documentary “Kenny Mayne’s Wiffle Ball” explores whether Mayne threw a Wiffle ball faster than former professional baseball outfielder Ken Griffey Jr. during a 1989 contest. \n  \n“Kenny Mayne’s legacy at Wenatchee Valley College goes far beyond the record book\,” said WVC Athletic Director Greg Sparling. “Kenny set the standard for excellence. At the time of his induction into the NWAC Hall of Fame\, he still held conference records for career passing yards\, attempts\, and completions—a true testament to his impact on our program. But what means even more to us is his continued support of WVC Athletics and his belief in our student-athletes\, WVC\, and our local community. We are very excited to have Kenny back on campus for the Mayne Event. We are grateful for Kenny’s commitment to giving back to our student-athletes and WVC Athletics.” \n  \nAll proceeds from the event will directly benefit student-athletes and the WVC Athletic Program. \n  \nThis event is sponsored by Weinstein Beverage Company\, Draggoo Financial Group LLC\, and Smitty’s Pancake House. \n  \n_______________________________________________________________ \nAbout Wenatchee Valley College \nFounded in 1939\, Wenatchee Valley College enriches North Central Washington and delivers relevant\, innovative\, and experiential educational opportunities for thriving and healthy communities.
