SUMMARY:Dirty Bloom 50 - XC MTB Event
DESCRIPTION:Ride Overview\n\n\nThis is THE XC Event of the Apple Blossom Weekend. The course is designed by trail-building and XC legend (he’ll hate us for saying that!) Evan Plews. \nCome and test yourself on a fantastic mix of natural singletrack\, twin-track forest roads\, hand-made singletrack\, and flowing trails through some of the most beautiful terrain in North Central Washington. You’ll visit the valleys of the Balsamroots\, climb to the heavens of twin peaks\, and descend some serious flows that will wrap you up like a wet burrito. So\, expect lung and thigh busting climbs that are rewarded with epic grin-inducing descents.

SUMMARY:WVC Athletics presents The Mayne Event with Kenny Mayne
DESCRIPTION:WVC Athletics presents The Mayne Event with Kenny Mayne on May 9\n_______________________________________________________________________ \n  \nWenatchee Valley College Knights Athletics will host a spring fundraiser with former ESPN anchor Kenny Mayne on Saturday\, May 9. The Mayne Event will feature a stand-up comedy set by WVC alum Mayne\, his “Wiffle Ball” documentary\, a silent auction\, and live music performances by the Whisky Trail Band and the Confluence Jazz Trio with Angela Waggoner. \n  \nThe fundraiser takes place on Saturday\, May 9 at 5:30 p.m. in the Student Recreation Center on WVC’s Wenatchee campus. Tables are currently available\, and individual tickets will go on sale in early April. Tickets for the Mayne Event can be purchased at www.wvcfoundation.schoolauction.net/wvcmayneevent. \n  \nKenny Mayne graduated from Wenatchee Valley College in 1978. A former Knight\, Mayne was the quarterback for WVC’s football team from 1977-1978 and earned All-American honors from the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA). He went on to attend the University of Nevada Las Vegas\, where he was a backup quarterback and graduated with a degree in broadcasting in 1982. \n  \nMayne started his career as a reporter in Las Vegas and then as a weekend sports anchor in Seattle before joining ESPN in 1994 as a sports anchor. He was host of “Kenny Mayne’s Wider World of Sports” on ESPN.com and a weekly contributor to the Sunday NFL Countdown with a “Mayne Event” segment. \n  \nHe also published a book in 2008\, “An Incomplete and Inaccurate History of Sport\,” a collection of humorous takes on sports and pop culture. \n  \nMayne’s comedy documentary “Kenny Mayne’s Wiffle Ball” explores whether Mayne threw a Wiffle ball faster than former professional baseball outfielder Ken Griffey Jr. during a 1989 contest. \n  \n“Kenny Mayne’s legacy at Wenatchee Valley College goes far beyond the record book\,” said WVC Athletic Director Greg Sparling. “Kenny set the standard for excellence. At the time of his induction into the NWAC Hall of Fame\, he still held conference records for career passing yards\, attempts\, and completions—a true testament to his impact on our program. But what means even more to us is his continued support of WVC Athletics and his belief in our student-athletes\, WVC\, and our local community. We are very excited to have Kenny back on campus for the Mayne Event. We are grateful for Kenny’s commitment to giving back to our student-athletes and WVC Athletics.” \n  \nAll proceeds from the event will directly benefit student-athletes and the WVC Athletic Program. \n  \nThis event is sponsored by Weinstein Beverage Company\, Draggoo Financial Group LLC\, and Smitty’s Pancake House. \n  \n_______________________________________________________________ \nAbout Wenatchee Valley College \nFounded in 1939\, Wenatchee Valley College enriches North Central Washington and delivers relevant\, innovative\, and experiential educational opportunities for thriving and healthy communities.
